Rule of thumb: start on a standard platform and only move to custom when it really pinches. That is cheaper and you are live sooner. Per platform in depth: Shopify, WooCommerce or Centra.

Technology
What is involved technically.
Payment providers
In the Netherlands most customers pay with iDEAL, so it has to be there. With Shopify that works through Shopify Payments; with WooCommerce through a plugin from, for example, Mollie or Stripe. Every provider charges per transaction, and rates differ per payment method.
Links with accounting and stock
Orders can flow automatically into your accounting (such as Moneybird, Exact Online or e-Boekhouden), and stock can sync with your till or warehouse. We use a standard connector where it works well, and build a custom API integration where needed.
Speed and conversion
Product photos in modern formats, few scripts and a short checkout. Every second of waiting and every unnecessary field costs orders.
Accessibility
Since 28 June 2025 the European Accessibility Act applies to online stores selling to consumers; micro-enterprises (fewer than 10 employees and at most €2 million turnover) are exempt. We build to WCAG: sufficient contrast, keyboard operable, alt text and clear error messages in forms.

Price
What drives the price.
An online store on Shopify or WooCommerce starts at €2,950 excl. VAT. What determines the price:
- the number of products and variants, and whether we import your range;
- the design: adapting an existing theme or a design of your own;
- links with accounting, stock, till or CRM;
- multiple languages or currencies;
- migrating an existing store, with redirects for your old URLs.
Platform costs (such as the Shopify subscription and paid apps or plugins) and transaction fees you pay directly to those parties.

Is Shopify or WooCommerce better?
Neither is always better. Shopify goes live faster and needs little maintenance; WooCommerce gives more control and fits if you already use WordPress. See the comparison above, or read Shopify, WooCommerce or Centra.
Can you migrate my existing online store?
Yes. We bring over products and customer data where the platform allows, and set up a 301 redirect for every old URL, so you keep your Google rankings.
Do I need to offer iDEAL in my store?
For Dutch customers almost always: it is the most used online payment method in the Netherlands. We set it up, along with credit card and other methods that suit your customers.
Can I add and edit products myself?
Yes. You manage products, prices, stock and orders yourself. At handover we show you how it works.
Do you maintain online stores as well?
Yes: updates, backups and checks that everything works. The monthly cost depends on your store and is in the quote up front.
Does the European Accessibility Act apply to my store?
If you sell to consumers and are not a micro-enterprise (fewer than 10 employees and at most €2 million turnover), it usually does. We build to WCAG and check what an existing store needs.
