In short

What is WooCommerce, and who is it for?

WooCommerce is a free store plugin for WordPress: you manage products, orders and your regular pages in one system. Sharp Creations builds WooCommerce stores from €2,950 excl. VAT, set up lean with only the plugins you need. You pay no platform subscription, but you do pay for hosting and maintenance; we arrange that, with hosting in the EU, and the monthly amount is in the quote up front. We work from Julianadorp (the Netherlands) for online stores across the country.

Technology

Hosting, plugins and maintenance explained.

Hosting makes the difference

A WooCommerce store runs on your own hosting. Cheap shared hosting is often why a store is slow, especially with many products. We put your store on hosting in the EU with enough capacity, caching for the pages that can be cached (not the basket and checkout) and an SSL certificate.

Plugins: as few as needed

Every plugin is code from another party that you need to keep up to date. A store with forty plugins is slow and vulnerable. We pick one solid, well-maintained plugin per feature and prefer to build small things ourselves. If a feature does not exist anywhere, we create a custom plugin.

Maintenance

WordPress, WooCommerce, your theme and your plugins get regular updates, often for security. We carry out updates in a controlled way, keep backups and keep an eye on your server’s PHP version.

Payments in the Netherlands

With the Mollie or Stripe plugin you accept iDEAL, credit cards and other methods. You open an account with the payment provider yourself; they charge per transaction.

Speed with a large range

Product photos in WebP or AVIF, images that only load when they come into view, and few scripts in the checkout. With large ranges we also look at the database, so your admin stays fast.

Choosing

When WooCommerce, and when not?

WooCommerce fits if you already have a WordPress site or publish a lot (blog, knowledge base, projects), if you want full control over your data and hosting, if you do not want a platform subscription, or if you have specific wishes that a plugin or custom code can solve.

Choose something else if you do not want to deal with hosting and updates (then Shopify fits better), or if you need B2B pricing per customer, a configurator or your own checkout (then a custom online store).

Price

What drives the price.

A WooCommerce store starts at €2,950 excl. VAT. What determines the price:

  • the number of products and variants, and whether we import or migrate your range;
  • adapting an existing theme or a theme of your own;
  • links with accounting, stock or CRM;
  • multiple languages, for example with WPML or Polylang;
  • B2B features such as prices per customer group.

Licences for paid plugins you pay to the maker yourself. Hosting and maintenance are charged monthly; the amount is in the quote up front.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know.

Question not listed? Just ask, one of the four of us will answer.

Ask your question
What does it cost to have a WooCommerce store built?
With us from €2,950 excl. VAT, with a fixed price up front. Hosting and maintenance are charged monthly; that amount is in the quote up front.
Is WooCommerce really free?
The plugin itself is. You pay for hosting, maintenance, sometimes paid plugins or extensions, and transaction fees to your payment provider.
Is a WooCommerce store secure?
Yes, if it is set up and maintained properly. Most problems come from outdated plugins or poor hosting. That is why we keep the number of plugins small and the updates current.
How many products can WooCommerce handle?
Thousands of products are no problem with good hosting. For a very large range or many orders a day, we check up front whether WooCommerce is the best choice.
Can I add a store to my WordPress site?
Yes. WooCommerce works within your existing WordPress site. We first check whether the theme and plugins are good enough to build on.
Can I switch to Shopify later?
Yes. Products and customer data can be migrated, and with redirects you keep your Google rankings. The other way round works too.
What does WooCommerce maintenance include?
Updates to WordPress, WooCommerce, theme and plugins, backups and checks that everything works. The monthly amount is in the quote up front.
